Trainee Web Developer

We are currently expanding our web development team and we are looking for a trainee web developer with a keen interest in coding and developing websites / web applications.

This role would be ideal for anyone wanting to push their web development career to the next level, with a passion for taking on new challenges and learning new skills.

Full on the job training will be provided, with ongoing training opportunities.

We are a rapidly expanding company based in Lytham, Lancashire. We work with a range of clients on a variety of different projects specialising in bespoke web development tasks.

We work with a few different technologies, but we specialise in:

• HTML
• CSS
• Javascript (Especially jQuery)
• PHP
• MySQL Databases
• Liquid (Shopify)
• WordPress

Role and Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for performing a range of web development tasks suitable to your ability, supporting the senior development team.

Key duties include:

• Carrying out web development tasks, both small jobs and entire website projects, either independently or as part of a team
• Working directly with clients, acquiring job scope and managing expectations
• Managing your own schedule to help us deliver websites and other projects on time
• Being an initial point of contact for new enquiries and acquiring initial job details

Essential Skills and Experience

• Experience in at least one coding language, with a good understanding of the basic principles of programming
• Obtained A Level or equivalent qualifications
• Good communication skills, both as part of a development team and communication directly with clients
• Ability to work and solve problems independently
• Ability to work in a team, adapting coding style to fit the structure of the project
• Keen eye for detail, both in front end design and back end code.
• Comfortable working in a small business, with our close knit environment

Desirable Skills

• Experience in any of the languages we typically work with (HTML, CSS, Javascript (jQuery), PHP, MySQL Databases, Shopify Liquid)
• Experience in WordPress and / or Shopify
• Web design skills
• Experience working with Adobe Suite (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
• Experience managing and interacting directly with clients
• Car and driving licence

Job Benefits

We offer flexible working, a 7 hour working day with core office hours of 9am – 5pm.

We are able to offer specific on the job training with frequent and consistent one to one support. Ongoing training will be provided with independent learning supported.
